Go Easy on the Sugar

It’s no surprise that sugar is the number one enemy of healthy teeth. Tooth decay occurs when the sweet substance comes into contact with plaque that’s on your teeth — it then turns into acid and attacks tooth enamel.  Of course, some common sources of sugar are soft drinks, candy and other sweets. But you could be getting a sugar overload from other sources without realizing it. Watch out for fruit juices, cereals and those special coffee drinks, too.  Still, sugar is hard to avoid — especially if you’ve got a sweet tooth. Protect your teeth from decay by rinsing the mouth out with water after indulging in your favorite treats.

Eat a Variety of Healthy Foods

The vitamins and minerals found in fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, lean protein, whole grains and low-fat dairy sources all contribute to healthy teeth and gums. Hydrate With Water

Because saliva washes away the bacteria and leftover food particles that cause tooth decay and infection, a healthy mouth is also a hydrated mouth. Water is the absolute best thing you can drink to make sure your mouth is producing enough saliva to rinse your teeth clean.
